Public private partnerships for road infrastructure development in Mexico
Mexico's road network is the backbone of the country's transportation system. The road network serves the whole territory and provides access and mobility to most of the country's 104 million inhabitants. Because of the country's reliance on its road system, there are large investment needs in the road sector. With the growth of economic activities and transportation requirements, these investment levels are insufficient to ensure that road infrastructure is properly maintained, improved and expanded. This has led the Federal Government to seek ways to develop partnerships with the private sector.
